BUT THIS WEIRD THING HAPPENS.
"So it's a bright sunny Saturday morning in Titusville, Florida. I am running in the varsity race and it has been about 1.5 miles. My coach was yelling at me to catch Ana and run with her. Here is some background info for you: Ana is a junior; last year she was number 1 or 2 on the cross country team. She usually ran a sub-20:00 on a 5k last year, so she was really really good! She is also amazing at track...number 2 in the state for the 800. She also has asthma and it got really bad since the summer. So back to the story...I was running and I saw her in front of me. She was really close to me and I knew something was wrong because I am not as fast as her at all. I pass her and I am trying to get her to stay with me but her breathing was so horrible...she sounded like she was having a panic attack or hyper-ventilating or something. I just let her be and didn't pull her with me because she sounded so bad and we still had like 2 miles left in the race!
So I finished the race and went back to the tent and I was like dead. All the JV girls are sitting in the tent stretching then Ana comes and sits down and she is still breathing fast...having an asthma attack it seemed. Anyway, Christie was there too--she was rubbing Ana's back, but this weird thing happens...I mean, like I recovered very quickly and then I was like 'I need to pray for her'. It was strange! It was like 'boom...you need to pray now!' So I put my hand on her and told Christie to do the same. Mind you, all the rest of the girls are around us so it was kind of awkward for me but I got past it. I just started praying for her out loud and for her to calm down and rest, and that next race she would feel great. ...and as I was doing it I could hear her breath slow. Her heart was not beating as fast and she was not heaving anymore, like she was recovered. I don't know...I can't describe it. It was really cool!"
